Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks an Electrical/I&C Engineer for its Nuclear Services Division to contribute to design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities. The role emphasizes digital relaying, high-voltage power systems, and protecting plant environments.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license, have 8+ years in HV design for nuclear sites, and can travel 6-8 days per month; a Master’s degree is preferred. This hybrid position requires in-office presence several days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an accredited university (required).
• PE registration (required); MS degree preferred.
• 8+ years of design experience in high-voltage generator and transformer design, sizing, integration, and electrical power systems.
• Experience with digital relaying, protection systems, and relay coordination, specifically SEL relays such as SEL-411L/SEL-451.
• DOE or commercial nuclear plant experience; unescorted access preferred or able to obtain.
• Willingness to travel to plant sites (approx. 6-8 days/month).

Responsibilities

• Oversee proposal development and guide engineers in nuclear project deliverables.
• Report to Project Engineer/Manager on multi-discipline proposals and projects; act as Project Engineer when required.
• Serve as technical point of contact for customers; lead discipline teams and develop design/calculations for nuclear modifications.
• Prepare engineering change packages for modifications at operating nuclear plants.
• Conduct field walkdowns to determine plant configurations; develop HV designs and control schemes.
• Review and stamp electrical design packages; oversee proposal development and guide junior engineers.
