Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical/I&C Engineer to lead electrical and I&C engineering for commercial nuclear projects and support proposals. This role interfaces with utility customers, reviews engineering packages, and ensures compliance with nuclear standards.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license with 8 years of design experience in nuclear facilities and has hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, SEL relays, and control design. Remote travel to plants may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with 8 years of design experience.
  • 8 years of engineering design experience.
  • 4 years of design modification experience in commercial or DOE nuclear facilities.
  • Experience with nuclear control systems, digital and cyber security requirements.
  • Experience preparing Engineering Change Packages (ECs).
  • Experience with high-voltage generators, transformers, protection relays, and electrical power systems.
  • Experience with SEL relays (SEL-411L, SEL-451).
  • Ability to obtain unescorted nuclear plant access and travel to sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and I&C engineering for commercial nuclear projects.
  • Support proposal development and provide technical leadership.
  • Report to project managers and project engineers on multidisciplinary initiatives.
  • Serve as customer-facing technical lead for assigned projects.
  • Develop and review engineering change packages for nuclear plant modifications.
  • Conduct plant walkdowns and field investigations.
  • Prepare scopes of work, technical proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Design and support high-voltage electrical systems, generators, transformers, and relaying schemes.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear industry regulations and standards.
  • Review, approve, and stamp engineering deliverables as PE of record.
  • Mentor and guide junior electrical and controls engineers.

Job description

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical/I&C Engineer for an engineering and power generation client. This candidate will serve as a senior technical leader supporting commercial nuclear power plant modifications, upgrades, and modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical power systems, protection and control design, high-voltage equipment, and nuclear engineering change processes. This role will involve leading proposal efforts, interfacing directly with utility customers, performing plant walkdowns, developing and reviewing engineering packages, and ensuring compliance with strict nuclear industry standards. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects while helping expand a growing nuclear services division supporting operating and future nuclear generation facilities.

Day to Day:
  • Lead electrical and I&C engineering efforts for commercial nuclear projects

  • Experience preparing Engineering Change Packages (ECs)
  • Experience with high-voltage generators, transformers, protection relays, and electrical power systems
  • Experience with SEL relays including SEL-411L and SEL-451
  • Protection and control systems expertise including:
  • Line protection
  • Breaker control
  • Experience interpreting IEEE, ANSI, regulatory codes, and industry standards
  • Ability to obtain or maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
  • Ability to travel to plant sites as needed
