Job summary

Plug Power Inc. in New York state seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as the electrical authority for hydrogen fuel cell power systems.

You will guide design, mentor engineers, and balance performance with cost and schedule across the full development lifecycle. You will lead DC/DC converter design, embedded control development, architecture decisions, and qualification activities, while driving safety and standards compliance with UL/CE/NFPA 2/SAE/ISO and cross‑functional program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 10+ years of power electronics development experience in regulated or high-reliability industries.
• Hands-on embedded controls hardware experience (DSP/MCU/FPGA).
• Experience developing and executing DFMEA, DV/PV testing, and gate reviews.
• Experience with PEM fuel cell systems and wide-bandgap devices a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and validate DC/DC power converters for fuel cell interfaces.
• Define electrical specs and drive EMI/EMC mitigation.
• Lead hardware design reviews and DFMEA processes.
• Oversee embedded control architectures on DSP/MCU/FPGA platforms.
• Lead NPI programs and platform upgrades with TRL tracking.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CE, NFPA 2, ISO standards.
