Job summary

Imperial Irrigation District is seeking an Associate/System Operator/Power Dispatcher (SOPD II) to oversee the reliability of the district’s interconnection transmission system and balancing authority operations. You will supervise staff, coordinate with WECC and adjacent authorities, and manage transmission service agreements with independent power producers.

The role requires an Associate’s degree and several years of related electric utility experience, with certifications including

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or related field and five years of progressively responsible electric utility operations or transmission service experience.
• Progressively responsible directly related experience may be substituted for the required education at the ratio of two years of experience for one year of education in electric utility operations or transmission service experience of an interconnected electrical system and related equipment.
• NERC Certification, BITO or RO and district certification and maintain NERC certification through the NERC continuing education process required.
• Veteran's Preference (External Applicants Only): Submit DD form 214 or other evidence of veterans' status by the job posting deadline.
• EEI System Operator/Power Dispatcher (SOPD II) pre-employment test. A negative drug test is required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, supervises, coordinates, monitors and maintains electrical reliability of interconnection transmission system operations.
• Prioritizes, schedules and directs staff in coordination of balancing authority and transmission system operations.
• Oversees transmission service agreements with IPPs and liaison with WECC reliability coordinator and adjacent authorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
