Job summary

IID seeks an Engineer/SOPD II to monitor and control the electrical distribution system under general supervision. You will direct switching by field technicians and troubleshooters, coordinate customer outages, and manage emergency restoration to sustain system reliability.

The role requires a degree in engineering, math, business or a related field, or an Associate's with four years of relevant experience; substitution rules apply. A pre-employment test and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, business or related field or Associate's with four years of related work experience.
• Experience in electric systems operation, maintenance, line construction, or related fieldwork.
• Substitution: two years of experience for one year of education.
• Veteran's Preference applies; submit DD form 214 or equivalent.

Job description

Under general supervision, monitors and controls electrical distribution system operations and equipment; prevents and restores the electric distribution system and maintains the operations reliability of the electrical distribution system; directs switching performed by field technicians and troubleshooters; coordinates customer outages, emergency restoration and clearances; maintains customer outage information database; complies with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and District operating policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, business or other related field OR Associate's degree in engineering, math, business or other related field and four years' of electric systems, operation maintenance or line construction, electrical, electronic or computer science related work including design and analysis functions experience in the electrical field.

Direct and equivalent related power system operation, maintenance line construction, or relevant electrical utility fieldwork experience may be substituted for the required education at the ratio of two years of experience for one year of education required.
