Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Principal Project Manager for its Project Management & Construction department to work as a hybrid role at our Worcester, MA, Northboro, MA or Waltham, MA office locations. The role includes travel to multiple locations and a mix of in-office and remote work.

The position leads teams of PMs, engineers, and experts to deliver major capital construction projects, drive risk management, and ensure safe, on-time delivery within budget and scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent with project management, contracts, construction, and operations experience.
• 10+ years in electric utility sector in PM, engineering, contracts, construction or operations.
• 10+ years of detailed project financial forecasting and reporting.
• 10+ years of managing, coaching teams and developing employees.
• 10+ years of presenting to executives.
• Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, and PowerPlan.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and MS Teams.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex electric capital construction projects on schedule and within budget.
• Oversee risk management and proactive mitigation.
• Ensure project compliance with internal BMS (business management system).
• Direct siting, permitting, regulatory approvals and cost recovery mechanisms.
• Mentor junior project managers and cross-functional teams.
• Present updates to senior leaders and steering committees.
• Drive continuous improvement of PM processes, methodologies, and tools.
• Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events.
