Job summary

Bascom Hunter, an aerospace and defense contractor, seeks a Principal Motor Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and development of electric motors for demanding applications. You will own motor-level requirements, interface definitions, and performance verification across PMSM, BLDC, and AC synchronous motors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years designing electric motors or high-performance rotating electromechanical systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in PMSM, BLDC, or AC synchronous motors.
• Hands-on with ANSYS Motor-CAD or similar tools for electromagnetic/thermal/structural analysis.
• Experience taking designs through full lifecycle from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of PMSM, BLDC, AC synchronous and other motors for aerospace/defense from requirements through production release.
• Define motor requirements, interfaces, and detailed specifications.
• Perform electromagnetic design and simulate using ANSYS tools, including losses and efficiency.
• Conduct coupled thermal, structural, and vibration analyses for rotating assemblies.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, qualification, and production transition.
