Job summary

Bascom Hunter seeks a Principal Motor Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design and development of electric motors and integrated electromechanical systems for high-reliability aerospace and defense applications.

This senior role requires hands-on experience from requirements and specification through prototype, qualification, and production, with emphasis on PMSM, BLDC, and AC synchronous motors and comprehensive system considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience designing electric motors and high-performance rotating machinery.
• Expertise in PMSM, BLDC and AC synchronous motor design with thermal management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of PMSM, BLDC, AC synchronous and other motors from requirements through production release.
• Review system requirements, develop motor-level requirements, and write detailed motor specifications.
• Perform electromagnetic design and simulations using ANSYS tools including torque, loss, and efficiency analyses.
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, qualification, and tie-test results to design refinements.
