Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Distribution Designer to design overhead and underground electric distribution facilities from 4kV to 69kV, overseeing schedules and budgets with clients. This role involves applying industry standards, performing design calculations, and preparing construction documents.

You will prepare plans, profiles, loadings, trench and conduit drawings, and equipment specs while collaborating with surveying teams to gather field data and ensure accurate designs.

Qualifications

• Five or more years designing electric utility distribution systems in consulting or utility environments.
• Associate degree in drafting and CAD design or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and/or underground distribution facilities.
• Prepare design sketches, drawings, cost estimates, bills of material, and documents for construction.
• Apply standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and industry standards in preparing the design of electric distribution facilities.
• Perform distribution system design calculations.
• Prepare and oversee design documents for construction, including plan/profile, structure loadings, design details, trench/conduit drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Communicate with clients and engineers on system requirements and identify Right of Way for proposed equipment.
• Acquire field data as necessary and work with field surveying to prepare designs.
