The role spans material selection, formulation review, seal design support, supplier qualification, testing, and failure analysis, ensuring API/Q1 and industry standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Experience with elastomer chemistries, polymer chemistry, material testing, and structure-property relationships
• Strong technical-report writing and ability to communicate with stakeholders
• Upstream oilfield experience or severe-service applications a plus
• Hands-on experience with elastomer and thermoplastic materials in oil and gas contexts

Responsibilities

• Lead elastomer and thermoplastic material selection and qualification for oilfield sealing systems
• Review formulations, base polymers, fillers, and process aids; assess properties and sealability
• Provide guidance for O-rings, packing elements, chevron seals, backup rings, and static/dynamic seals
• Develop qualification plans for high/low temperature and pressure environments including rapid gas decompression
• Apply API, ISO, NORSOK, ASTM, NACE/AMPP standards and customer requirements
• Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations; recommend corrective actions
• Support supplier qualification, change control, and traceability under API Q1 quality systems
• Mentor junior staff and provide senior technical input across engineering and manufacturing
