Job summary

ExxonMobil in Baytown, TX is seeking a senior materials/chemistry specialist to develop Proxxima thermoset systems for Oil & Gas applications, with emphasis on subsea thermal insulation and flow assurance. You will lead resin formulation development, catalyst optimization, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

The role requires hands-on lab work, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with DoEs and polymer processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, master or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Petroleum Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of flow assurance, thermal management and insulation needs in Oil & Gas.
• Experience assessing insulation needs for pipelines and equipment.
• Proficient in statistics and problem solving; hands-on and lab-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Develop new thermoset resin systems based on cyclic C5 monomers and additives.
• Optimize thermoset catalyst systems with novel additives.
• Develop structure–property relationships using DoEs and statistics.
• Develop raw material and finished product specifications.
• Provide on-site technical support and optimization for customers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to commercialize new products.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues.
