Job summary

Huvepharma in Saint Louis, MO, seeks a highly motivated EHS Senior Specialist to serve as the subject matter expert for all applicable environmental health and safety requirements for 5 US locations. The role develops and implements organizational safety programs and conducts frequent site inspections to minimize hazards in processes and working methods.

The position requires BS/MS in EH&S, 5–7 years of manufacturing EHS experience, OSHA/NIOSH knowledge, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in EH&S related discipline or equivalent preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DNR and other pertinent regulations.
• OSHA 30 Hr Training.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge and root-cause analysis experience.
• Strong leadership abilities and the ability to communicate with employees.

Responsibilities

• Assure compliance with Federal, State and Local Health, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene regulations.
• Communicate objectives of Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene to management and report progress.
• Audit facility compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA and local regulations.
• Advise Operations on construction projects affecting environmental and safety areas.
• Plan and coordinate major safety initiatives including risk management and life safety.
• Design and implement facility-wide EHS training and ensure compliance.
• Develop programs with internal resources and contractors for safety, hygiene, ergonomics.
• Maintain knowledge of standards, codes, and laws impacting safety and health.
• Complete government reports as required by OSHA and local regs.
• Write operating instructions for process changes and ensure equipment meets standards.
• Conduct site EHS visits and address gaps with plant leadership.
• Administer Respiratory Protection Program and related training/testing.
• Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring and provide improvement recommendations.
• Develop Emergency Response and Bloodborne Pathogen programs.
• Evaluate PPE selection and provide recommendations.
• Administer contractor safety training programs.
• Investigate work incidents and coordinate care with HR.
• Deliver New Employee EHS training.
• Develop content to meet regulatory training requirements (Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, etc.).
• Lead internal EHS audits of USA facilities.
• Review SOPs, policies and batch records for current standards.
• Verify training requirements are met.
• Manage safety and environmental written programs and updates.
• Lead the EHS committee team in St Louis and other sites.
• Assess proposed regulations and inform management of impact.
• Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
