Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or life sciences environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and management systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 (or ISO 45001) standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT) and Augusta Life Sciences corporate standards.
  • Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and specialized safety topics.
  • Manage and maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, training records, incident reports, and compliance data.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, equipment design, and facility modifications.
  • Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, air emissions, and wastewater discharge, and ensure compliance with environmental permits.
  • Lead emergency response planning and drills, including fire prevention, hazardous material spills, and medical emergencies.
  • Stay current with new EHS regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continually improve EHS performance.
  • Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries.
