Job summary

Stepan Company is seeking an EHS Manager for our Elwood, IL facility. Lead the Environmental, Health and Safety department and drive continuous improvement of EHS performance at the site.

Responsibilities include overseeing PSM, emergency response, and safety culture programs while ensuring compliance with Illinois and federal regulations. The role requires collaboration across teams and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in EHS
• Thorough knowledge of EHS concepts, tools, and methodologies
• Excellent collaboration and leadership across functions
• Knowledge of Illinois and USEPA laws and regs; required reports
• Knowledge of OSHA VPP and ACC RCMS systems
• Knowledge of US Coast Guard MARSEC regulations

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the EHS Department and manage resources
• Prioritize protection of people, processes, products and environment
• Partner with internal departments to implement EHS improvements
• Develop and deliver EHSS leadership programs and safety culture
• Oversee site emergency response team
• Develop EHS staff through coaching and training
• Oversee PSM program including PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, and risk assessment
