Job summary

Stepan Company in Elwood, Illinois, is seeking a Production Specialist to facilitate planning and execution of production and maintenance activities in the area, ensuring efficient project delivery and compliant operations. The role owns maintenance work instructions and supports operator development and training.

The position requires 5 years of chemical processing experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to lead cross-functional safety initiatives while coordinating with EH&S,

Qualifications

• 5 years chemical processing experience, operations, and supervision.
• Solid understanding of chemical and unit operations.
• Facilitate troubleshooting efforts and lead team meetings.
• Strong problem-solving and planning abilities.
• Organize information and multi-task effectively.
• On-call availability for emergencies and shutdowns.

Responsibilities

• Provides work permits and oversees safety compliance.
• Audits area maintenance and construction activities with EH&S.
• Develops safety plans prior to special activities.
• Supports safety initiatives and investigations.
• Performs process or equipment troubleshooting with production leaders.
• Leads maintenance prioritization and daily/weekly scheduling.
• Plans equipment prep for maintenance and capital projects.
• Coordinates emergency repair plans with maintenance team.
• Coordinates training for hourly personnel and new-hire tests.
• Oversees instruction development and revalidation with engineers.
• Drives PLAS and MOS implementations and improvements with engineering.
• Leads cross-functional meetings and CAPEX project teams.
• Identifies cost savings opportunities in projects.
• Communicates with personnel, customers, and contractors.
