Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Manufacturing Plant EHS Manager II to lead critical safety and environmental initiatives in a complex, matrixed manufacturing environment. This role suits a professional with 5–10 years of EHS experience who drives cultural transformation and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will own and elevate EHS processes, partner across functions, and mentor teams while aligning with safety priorities and regulatory requirements in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 5–10 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
• 3–5 years of previous experience managing a team.
• Proven success in influencing matrixed teams and driving cultural transformation.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, ISO 14001 / 45001 / 9001, and behavior-based safety systems.
• Proficient in EHS digital platforms, data analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, tailored to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures aligned with OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards (14001/45001/9001).
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses (JHA, HAZOP), and ergonomic evaluations.
• Ensure compliance across multiple reporting lines and operational units within a matrixed structure.
• Manage environmental reporting, waste characterization, and regulatory submissions.
• Lead and participate in EHS audits and risk assessments.
• Partner with JCI Legal on regulatory and compliance topics.
• Data management with EHS information system.
