Job summary

MedPharm US is looking for an experienced EHS Manager to lead environmental health and safety programs across its GMP manufacturing site and R&D laboratory in Durham, NC. The role represents MedPharm on regulatory EH&S matters for both locations.

You will develop and manage EH&S policies, conduct risk assessments, lead emergency response, ensure training, audits, and compliance with OSHA/EPA and related standards. Strong cross-site leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or bachelor's degree in EHS, Occupational Health, Engineering, Science, or closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years in EHS related experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing or R&D environments.
• Demonstrated experience implementing EHS regulations and interacting with regulatory agencies.
• Experience with DEA Controlled Substance license administration and compliance.
• Familiarity with SOP authorship, change control, and document management practices for EHS programs.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations (FDA/OSHA/EPA) and industry standards (NFPA, ANSI, ACGIH, ISO, NIOSH).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain EH&S policies and procedures compliant with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Lead EHS programs across GMP manufacturing and R&D sites, including training, inspections, and audits.
• Coordinate and conduct employee training in EH&S programs and safety topics.
• Lead the Material Risk Assessment program for new compounds and ensure safe handling.
• Oversee the Emergency Response Program and the Emergency Response Team.
• Coordinate with Regulators and serve as primary site contact for EH&S matters.
• Ensure recordkeeping for compliance and track EHS targets and KPIs.
• Guide incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety culture initiatives.
• Maintain Hazardous Waste programs and manage disposal of experimental compounds at the RTP site.
