Job summary

Carlisle Construction Materials is seeking an experienced EHS leader to coordinate and manage environmental, health, and safety programs at a manufacturing facility. You will collaborate with site leadership and business-unit managers to prevent injuries, perform root-cause analyses, and resolve safety issues, with a dotted line to the EHS Divisional Manager.

Expect 8:00 am–5:00 pm hours, at times extended or weekend work, and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety-related field with professional EHS certification preferred.
• Ten years of experience in health and safety in manufacturing or processing environments.
• Minimum of five years managing a safety program at a manufacturing site.
• Prior experience coordinating with site leadership and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

Pay Rate

$100,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year

Duties And Responsibilities

• Dotted reporting line to divisional Manager of EH&S
• Assist the plant manager in strategic planning across the site which includes leading/lagging safety data analysis and problem solving.
• Acts as a behavior-based safety coach and mentor to site leadership team and associates regarding safety tools, concepts, and mindset
• Assist the plant manager in facilitation of business unit safety calls.
• Work side by side with departmental managers implementing and maintaining site-specific integrated safety plans, EHS standard work and other Carlisle safety programs.
• Conduct comprehensive safety standard work assessments, PPE assessments, ergonomic assessments, and policy audits throughout entire site.
• Manage/execute targeted environmental, health and safety projects throughout site.
• Attend required management team meetings and safety committees.
• Prepare, implement, and execute safety training, on-boarding, mentoring, and associate BBS observations.
• Serve as primary advisor regarding all safety issues for site leadership teams, supervisors, local safety committees and hourly associates.
• Maintain close contact with local government and members of the local safety communities.
• Maintain company compliance with all appropriate OSHA and state safety regulations, maintain appropriate reporting (such as OSHA 300 logs), and site-specific integrated safety plans.
• Participate in industry and professional interest groups to stay current on trends, issues, and technological innovation.
• Track OSHA recordable incidents, rates, and trends; and regularly report safety performance measures to site leadership.
• Lead, track, and review all site level incident problem solving for complete root causes, trends, corrective action completion.
• Manage execution of Carlisle wide and/or Business Unit read-across items.
• Participate in the strategic planning of manufacturing process and facility modifications to ensure that potential environmental and safety related consequences are considered.
• Manage the completion of EHS tasks utilizing EHS digital platform (Gensuite)
• Manage related EHS ISO programs such as ISO 14001
• Assist other Carlisle sites with implementation of safety processes as well as mentoring new site EHS professionals.
• Assist the Divisional EHS Manager in Division wide EHS assessments/read-across initiatives.
• Lead a team of 2-3 safety professionals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to forge the right relationships with associates, regulatory officials, and corporate executives to communicate the company’s safety and environmental health policies and accomplishments.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to build consensus and positively influence a diverse group of co-workers without direct control.
• Basic environmental compliance preferred but not required, must have willingness to expand current knowledge to include other topics.
• Must have demeanor such that facilities view role as help to their safety system.
• Understanding of behavioral based safety processes
• Fluency in Microsoft Office programs

Education And Experience

• Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Risk Management.
  • EHS related certification by a professional EHS association preferred (CSP, CIH)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a health and safety role in a manufacturing or processing environment preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing the overall safety program of a manufacturing or processing site

Working Conditions

• Manufacturing Plant environment where the plants may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings.
• Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
• Occasional overtime or weekends required.Occasional overnight Domestic travel (up to 10%)
