Job summary

Ashland is seeking an experienced Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our EHS&S function at the Ashland Freetown, MA location. This high-visibility role reports to the Plant Manager and drives safety culture, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the site.

The ideal candidate has a BS in a related field, 8+ years in EHS within industrial settings (chemical manufacturing preferred), and at least 2 years of managerial experience.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in EHS within industrial/manufacturing environments, including chemical manufacturing
• Minimum 2 years of managerial/leadership experience
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, RMP, and other EHS regulations
• Proficiency with MS Office and EHS software such as VelocityEHS
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and adapt to shifting demands

Responsibilities

• Provide transformational leadership to foster safety culture and ensure timely closure of CAPAs
• Partner with site leadership to develop EHS objectives, targets, and strategies
• Analyze EHS data and investigations; communicate clearly at all levels
• Develop multiple solutions and make recommendations to improve safety outcomes
• Coordinate and deliver mandatory EHS training for leadership and staff
• Review environmental permits and EHS regulatory reports; liaise with regulatory agencies
• Oversee EHS personnel (minimum five direct reports) and set expectations
• Lead incident management, reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
• Update site EHS procedures to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement
