Job summary

ERM seeks a Principal Consultant, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead safety programs for global clients in technology, biopharma, and manufacturing. You’ll drive compliance, mentor consultants, and shape safety strategy across projects in the Seattle area.

You will develop risk assessments, audits, and training, build trusted client relationships, and deliver measurable improvements while coordinating with ERM’s global network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related science degree.
• 6+ years of relevant EHS experience in technology, biopharma, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
• Knowledge of Washington, Oregon, and federal EHS regulations.
• Ability to manage projects, budgets, and teams.
• Strong OSHA knowledge.
• Experience with hazard recognition, JHA, emergency planning, risk assessment, incident investigation, machine guarding, chemical safety, and LOTO.
• Understanding regulatory compliance and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication with analytical capabilities.
• Experience documenting safety reports and safety-related documentation.
• Building strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
• Driver's License and travel across client locations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and continuously improve safety programs addressing audits, hazard controls, NFPA 70E, LOTO, and lab safety.
• Conduct audits, JHA, risk assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, and EHS assessments to ensure OSHA and client standards compliance.
• Support client safety performance through training, field coaching, safety committee participation, safety walks, and incident investigations.
• Analyze safety data and produce clear reports with actionable insights to reduce hazards and improve compliance.
• Serve as a trusted safety advisor to labs, facilities or programs and recommend practical improvements.
• Develop EHS procedures, plans, permits, and risk management systems for safe operations.
• Build client relationships, deliver exceptional service, and win new business through proposals and advisory support.
• Lead large-scale safety programs and multidisciplinary teams across ERM’s global network.
