Job summary

Abbott Park, IL location is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to develop, implement and monitor programs ensuring compliance with federal, state and local EHS regulations locally and across Abbott’s global divisions.

The role oversees the local environmental program, prepares regulatory submissions for air, water and waste, serves as primary liaison with regulators, and delivers training on environmental standards for employees worldwide.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field with both hands on and program management experience.
• Ability to navigate and interpret EHS regulations.
• Expected to function with little direction and independently drive complex projects to completion.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the local environmental program to ensure divisional personnel implement and maintain the ongoing program in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Develop and submit ongoing regulatory compliance documents related to air/water/waste/regulatory programs.
• Serves as primary liaison with environmental regulators for air, water and waste, including permitting, monitoring, and reporting.
• Develops and provides training (air, water, waste, internal management standards, technical programs, sustainability goals) for employees locally and globally.
• Works independently and applies data analysis to design solutions to EHS problems.
• Supports facility Emergency Response and release reporting actions.
