Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Madison, WI, seeks a Principal EHS Business Partner to lead safety and environmental initiatives across sites within the Cancer Diagnostics division. You will drive compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement of EHS performance, partnering with HR, Legal, and site leadership.

You will serve as an expert on OSHA/EPA matters, develop training, and oversee incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Lab Sciences, or a related field is required.
• Experience in program development and maintenance, auditing and monitoring, regulatory adherence, and complex multi-directional communications.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs and policies across sites.
• Act as SME for environmental, health, and safety matters and provide guidance on workplace hazards and changes.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, WDNR, MMSD, State Fire Marshal and other regulations.
• Lead investigations of workplace accidents and environmental incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, Job Hazard Analyses, and risk assessments; maintain Risk Registers.
• Establish and monitor EHS performance metrics, regulatory records, and reporting to leadership.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, managers, and employees to manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs.
• Lead environmental sustainability efforts related to waste, water, energy, and emissions reductions.
• Build relationships with regulators and auditors and support training and awareness programs.
• Stay current on evolving regulations and ensure EHS documentation is accessible in local languages.
