Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an experienced EHS professional to provide day-to-day EHS support for Lake County, IL operations, including maintenance, facilities, and laboratory work. You will partner with leaders to identify hazards, apply controls, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting safe and reliable operations.

The role emphasizes field presence, incident investigations, and delivering training to strengthen safe work practices across multiple functions and sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering, science, or a related field; 5+ years of relevant experience (master's may offset).
• EHS support experience in industrial/operational/lab/engineering/construction environments preferred.
• Knowledge of critical safe work practices: hot work, LOTO, heights, confined spaces, surface penetration.
• Experience with risk assessments, inspections, audits, investigations, compliance, training, corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary EHS business partner for assigned Operations-based functions.
• Provide routine field presence, coaching, and practical EHS guidance to employees and leaders.
• Apply knowledge of hot work, LOTO, working at heights, confined space entry, surface penetration.
• Conduct risk assessments, pre-task planning, and project reviews to identify hazards and controls.
• Support compliance with local, state, and federal EHS requirements and AbbVie standards.
• Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver EHS training and tools addressing business needs.
• Provide EHS support for contractors and construction activities with field oversight.
• Maintain and communicate EHS metrics and drive data-driven risk-reduction actions.
• Represent AbbVie with regulatory agencies or external organizations when assigned.
