Job summary

The University of California, San Francisco is seeking a Senior EEG Technologist to join the Neurology team. You will perform EMG, evoked potentials (EPs) and related procedures for adult and pediatric patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, including ICUs and nursing floors.

You will ensure electrode and equipment integrity while actively participating in performance improvement activities, in-services, and staff development within the department.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as an EEG Technologist.
  • Two years' experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and on line communication.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform nerve conduction tests (NCS).
  • Prepare EMG equipment and parameters for providers.
  • Prepare EMG data tables and populate accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot EMG equipment and coordinate with biomed or vendors.
  • Monitor supplies for the EMG lab and order as needed.
  • Explain NCS procedures to patients and review orders in EMR.
  • Apply surface electrodes and obtain NCS, interpreting results.
  • Assist EDX physician with EDX studies and electrode placement.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and electrodes; document maintenance.
  • File print or electronic medical records per laboratory policy.
