Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a journey-level Neurophysiology Technologist to perform electroencephalographic studies related to EEG, EMG, or evoked potential tests. Responsibilities include preparing patients, applying electrodes, calibrating equipment, and interpreting outputs with the technical director.

Applicants must have formal neurophysiology training and at least 1 year of EEG experience, with BART/BLS at hire and a plan to achieve board certification within two years.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited neurophysiology technologist program or equivalent training.
• One (1) year of clinical EEG experience at a hospital with outpatient and inpatient services.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.
• Must be board certified in appropriate function within two (2) years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories as they relate to neurological diagnosis.
• Prepare and position patients for EDX studies and apply electrodes to predetermined positions.
• Calibrate and adjust apparatus and replace faulty components as needed.
• Interpret graphic output and designate artifacts and abnormal manifestations.
• Communicate with the technical director regarding daily operations and assist with program development.
