Job summary

Mathematica, Inc. seeks a Senior Managing Consultant to lead education program improvement, research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects with federal, state, and local education partners.

You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, coordinate client-facing work, and guide strategic initiatives. The role emphasizes education policy expertise, data-driven problem solving, stakeholder engagement, and delivering high-quality products while collaborating across the Education and Employment

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in education, economics, public policy, sociology, statistics, or related field or combination of education and work experience.
  • Six+ years of professional experience in education research, policy support, or program evaluation.
  • Current or recent experience as an education practitioner (teacher, administrator, or district/state staff).
  • Experience working with state/local education agencies and stakeholders across the country.
  • Demonstrated expertise in improving educational outcomes and adult learning, coaching, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support program improvement, research and evaluation, and technical assistance projects and partnerships.
  • Oversee teams, manage projects and complex tasks, and develop client-ready solutions.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and engage stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities.
  • Aggregate and present education data to inform outcomes and recommendations.
  • Plan and deliver webinars, trainings, and workshops for government clients and educators.
  • Mentor staff and support professional development across the team.
