Job summary

Savvas Learning Company is seeking a Senior Editor to develop culturally informed curriculum materials for K-12. The role combines editorial background with curriculum knowledge, plus on-the-job training in editorial processes and project management.

The Senior Editor will focus on social studies, with understanding of ELA concepts, and will help ensure content meets state standards, timelines, and quality objectives while coordinating with supervisors and development staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in curriculum development or the development of instructional materials for social studies; some K-5 curriculum experience preferred.
• Teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of educational methodologies and instructional design within social studies; English language arts/early literacy knowledge strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Researches, writes, and edits manuscripts and reviews/edits all page stages of the product.
• Matches state objectives to relevant content in the core program.
• Applies state objectives and testing blueprints to content and evaluation of vendor work.
• Follows established procedures and company policies; meets deadlines for all assignments.
• Oversees art specs for artists/topographers and reviews photos; oversees outside developers.
