Job summary

Savvas Learning Company seeks an experienced Senior Editor to develop culturally informed curriculum materials for K-12 social studies. The role combines editorial work with project management, ensuring content aligns with state standards and planned timelines.

The Senior Editor will manage manuscript development, review vendor outputs, and collaborate with teachers and teams to deliver high-quality instructional materials for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in curriculum development or instructional materials for social studies, with some K-5 focus.
• Teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of educational methodologies and instructional design in social studies; strong ELA/early literacy knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute ideas during project planning.
• Research, write, edit manuscripts, and review all page stages.
• Match state objectives to core content and assess vendor work.
• Follow procedures and escalate unclear objectives.
• Meet deadlines and maintain clear status updates.
• Oversee outside developers and support project planning.
