Savvas Learning Company seeks a Senior Editor to develop culturally informed curriculum for K-12 social studies, leveraging editorial and curriculum expertise with on-the-job training in processes and project management. The role emphasizes state standards alignment, timely delivery, and collaboration across internal and external teams.

The Senior Editor will guide content quality, ensure reading level appropriateness, and contribute to both digital and print components within a single-title

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in curriculum development or instructional materials for social studies, with some experience in K-5 curriculum development; project management experience preferred.
• Teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of educational methodologies and instructional design within social studies; knowledge in English language arts/early literacy strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Researches, writes, and edits manuscripts and reviews all page stages of product with limited supervision.
• Matches state objectives to content in the core program.
• Writes art specs for artists and oversees evaluation of visual materials.
• Oversees work of outside developers and coordinates with supervisors on budget and timelines.
