Job summary

R.H. Boyd is seeking a Senior Editor to lead content development across books, educational materials, and digital content for faith-based and culturally relevant publications. You will shape publishing strategy, manage external editors, and ensure high editorial standards.

The role requires overseeing manuscripts from submission to publication, collaborating with authors, designers, and editors, and guiding teams to deliver accurate, engaging content that reflects the company’s mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in English/Journalism/Communications; M.Div. preferred.
• Minimum 5 years editorial experience with a comparable organization.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and accountability.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across departments and partners.
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office.
• Knowledge of Chicago/APA style guides.
• Familiarity with faith-based content and cultural sensitivity.
• Experience with diverse authors and faith/social justice content.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback.
• Understanding of print production and digital publishing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts, articles, and content for grammar, style, and clarity.
• Collaborate with writers to improve structure, flow, and voice while maintaining authentic messaging.
• Ensure content aligns with brand values and editorial standards, faith-based publications.
• Manage editorial process from submission to publication; set deadlines and coordinate external team.
• Work with design team to align layout, images, and presentation with content.
• Write content as needed to bring publications to completion.
• Conduct fact-checking, research, and source review.
• Provide guidance to freelance editors, proofreaders, and contributors.
• Stay current on industry trends in faith-based publishing for relevance.
• Assist in developing content strategies for new publications and digital projects.
• Contribute to improving editorial processes and best practices.
