Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Editor IV for Behavioral Health Services Communications in Austin. The role leads editorial work across written and digital materials, ensuring accessibility and final content approval under agency standards.

Responsibilities include developing editorial plans, high-level content reviews, and coordinating with program experts to align with DEC directives and HHSC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Technical Writing, or related field.
• At least three years of professional editing, writing, publications, or communications experience; state government experience preferred.
• Experience with accessibility requirements for digital communications and editorial standards.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, edits, and rewrites various print and digital content to improve readability and correctness; designs materials for readability and visual appeal.
• Lead contributor and editor of the Behavioral Health Services department bi-monthly newsletter; coordinate with program experts.
• Provide editorial training, develop policies, and ensure accessibility; manage projects and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Collaborate across staff on policies, legislation, and major communications projects; maintain consistency with HHSC standards.
• Maintain mailing lists and support distribution of publications.
