Job summary

Ditto is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join at the edge of our technology stack. You will deploy and optimize a distributed, peer-to-peer data system, ensuring seamless real-time operation in challenging environments.

You’ll work closely with customers and feed insights back to the core product team. The role demands 5+ years in software engineering or SRE, strong edge-computing experience, and the ability to translate field realities into concrete technical requirements.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with U.S. citizenship.
• 5+ years in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, or SRE.
• 2+ years with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with edge computing, state management and data synchronization.
• Ability to work in ambiguous, high-stakes environments and move fast.
• Strong written and verbal communication translating edge realities to product teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Core Aggregation Node in a secure, distributed system.
• Architect and troubleshoot edge-to-core synchronization using CRDTs.
• Configure routing across BLE, local Wi-Fi, and tactical networks.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and software issues in real time.
• Translate edge-case realities into actionable product requirements.
