Job summary

Cloudflare in the United States is seeking engineers for its Cache and Proxy team to design and operate the high-performance cache and proxy data plane at the edge, enabling fast content delivery for a global customer base.

You will contribute to Pingora, improve latency and tail performance, and own features end to end from design to production, collaborating with product and engineering teams across Cloudflare with on-call responsibilities and a strong emphasis on reliability.

Qualifications

• Four+ years building production software
• Proficiency in Rust/Go/C/C++ and willing to use Rust
• Solid HTTP, TCP, TLS, QUIC understanding
• Designing secure, high-performance distributed systems
• Experience with Linux, networking, concurrency, performance
• Ownership of production: monitoring, on-call, incident response
• Experience with metrics, logs, traces, profiling
• Strong communication and cross-team leadership
• Willingness to use AI-assisted engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the high-performance cache and proxy data plane at Cloudflare's edge.
• Contribute to Pingora and production services, improving async I/O and latency.
• Improve cache correctness and performance through policies and eviction.
• Build globally distributed purge and Tiered Cache systems.
• Deliver shared platform capabilities and APIs for cache keys and rules.
• Own features end to end: designs, tests, rollouts, production.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident post-mortems.
• Assess failure modes with guardrails and rollback mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across Cloudflare.
• Raise engineering bar via code review and mentoring.
