Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a reliable ED Registration professional to handle pre-admission processes, financial counseling, and insurance coordination. You will verify eligibility, obtain authorizations, and support unscheduled admissions in a high-volume acute care setting.

Ideal candidates bring strong English communication, experience with government and commercial insurance, and proficiency with registration software in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of Government and Commercial Insurance Plans.
• Experience with registration and/or billings computer software programs.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Managed Care plans.
• Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize payer and government websites to access and interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Perform Emergency Department Registration including pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization.
• Manage unscheduled admissions in acute care or mental health admissions, NICU transfers and other duties as assigned.
