Job summary

General Motors is seeking a high-performing Structural CAE Hardware Engineer to lead in-house electronics design for next-gen SDV architecture. You will perform structural analyses, durability, and validation of ECU hardware, collaborating with design, EE and manufacturing teams to ensure robust performance across environments.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in structural analysis of ECUs or similar systems, and hands-on experience with CAE/FEA tools such as Abaqus,

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on solid mechanics.
• 5+ years in structural analysis/design of ECUs or similar systems.
• Experience with CAE/FEA tools and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Translate CTQs into structural requirements and design constraints.
• Develop and execute linear/nonlinear FEA models for strength, stiffness, durability.
• Perform analyses for vibration, modal response, and shock.
• Evaluate and optimize designs for weight and manufacturability.
• Support material selection and fasteners.
• Collaborate with design, EE, and manufacturing teams.
• Develop validation plans and correlate CAE with tests.
• Provide inputs to DFMEA, DRBFM, and design reviews.
• Present results at PDTs, design reviews, and leadership updates.
