Job summary

WSP is seeking an Ecological Risk Assessor to join our team, with the possibility to work out of multiple WSP offices including Buffalo, NY and other locations. You will support risk assessment and toxicology projects for the Federal Environmental Team, meeting EPA and state regulation requirements.

You will collaborate with a skilled risk assessment group to plan and execute projects, prepare risk assessments, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Toxicology, Biology, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of relevant experience conducting multi‑media ecological risk assessments with increasing responsibilities.
• Extensive hands‑on knowledge of ecological risk assessment principles, regulations, and guidance, especially USEPA CERCLA.
• Demonstrated client and regulator interactions across private and governmental sectors.
• Experience in scoping, managing, and conducting CERCLA process components including work plans and QAPPs.
• Strong risk communication with clients and stakeholders, including presenting complex information.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise technical assignments and manage whole projects or components.
• Lead ecological risk assessment proposals and project delivery.
• Interact with clients and regulators to scope risk assessments and apply results to site decisions.
• Provide technical reviews to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and contracts.
• Occasionally travel for projects, conferences, business development, or training.
