Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Foreman to oversee and execute daily tasks, schedule employees and equipment, and manage paperwork for heavy civil projects. The role requires coordinating earthwork with multiple crews, ensuring safety and adherence to project specs, while tracking production and costs.

The candidate should have five plus years of heavy civil experience, strong communication, organizational, and GPS/grading knowledge, and be proficient with on-site technology like iPads or

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Five+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret grading plans and geotechnical information.
• Experience with equipment spreads from trucks to large dozers.

Responsibilities

• Assist superintendent to build earthwork crews and plan site earthwork with utility and other crews.
• Set up cuts and fills, plan haul routes, maintain haul roads, and coordinate with inspectors.
• Rough and fine grade areas to meet project specifications.
• Record and track production quantities and compare to estimated costs to meet profit margins.
• Schedule employees and equipment to maximize utilization.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for earthwork and grading activities.
• Ensure safety compliance with OSHA and IX policies on site.
