Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Foreman to oversee earthwork crews, schedule manpower and equipment, and ensure safety and quality on site.

The role involves daily production tracking and coordination with inspectors and vendors to keep projects on schedule. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience, strong communication and leadership skills, and the ability to read grading plans and manage GPS-based grading tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate earthwork crews and plan site earthwork with utility crews and other contractors.
• Execute plans to meet schedule and budget; set up cuts/fills and plan haul routes.
• Rough and fine grade areas as required to meet project specifications.
• Record and track production quantities and compare vs estimated costs.
• Schedule employees and equipment to maintain high utilization.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors about earthwork and grading.
• Maintain knowledge of plans, specs, and schedules; report progress and issues to superintendent and project manager.
• Ensure safety of all on-site personnel per OSHA and IX policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
