Job summary

Archer is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Design Engineer to bridge R&D product design with Production for its eMotor propulsion systems in San Jose. You’ll lead design-to-manufacture processes on stator, rotor, housings, and gearboxes, guiding prototypes to scalable mass production.

You will own DFM, NPI execution, automation specs, MBOM creation, and process control, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, regulated aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering with 3–6+ years hands-on experience.
• Hands-on assembly experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
• SPC, GD&T knowledge and drawing reviews.
• End-to-End NPI from prototyping to mass production.
• Structured problem solving using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, 5-Why.
• Proficiency with CAD/PLM/MES/ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Design for Manufacturability (DFM/ DFA) with cross-functional teams to optimize EPS manufacturability.
• Lead prototype builds, process trials, tooling development, and ramp-up.
• Define automation equipment specs, tools, fixtures and FAT/SAT oversight.
• Develop plant line layouts, MBOM, and accurate part flow.
• Establish PFMEAs, validation/calibration protocols, and standard work.
• Drive RCCA and optimize cycle times for mass production readiness.
