Job summary

Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, seeks a Manufacturing Design Engineering Manager to lead the Electric Motor/Drive Unit production line in a high-volume environment. You will own specifications, design, launch, and ramp of advanced manufacturing equipment and manage capex budgets.

You will be hands-on and deeply technical, solving complex manufacturing problems under schedule pressure while partnering with Product Design and Global Supply Chain to drive DFM feedback and supplier

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering (or equivalent) with 2+ years of technical management and 5+ years in high-volume, automated manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing MDE team for Electric Motor/Drive Unit production lines and own hiring, career development, and resource planning.
• Own end-to-end equipment execution from RFQ and design specs through FAT, SAT, commissioning, and ramp up, managing capex budgets and executive approvals.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability by partnering with Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering to feed back into early-stage designs and optimize products for automated assembly.
• Lead relationships with custom equipment builders and key automation suppliers in collaboration with Global Supply Chain.
• Present program status, capital spend forecasts, and capacity models to executive leadership, adapting to enterprise schedules.
• Ensure manufacturing equipment meets throughput, yield, and OEE targets to satisfy delivery schedules.
