Job summary

PER International in San Jose, CA or Irvine, CA (4 days on-site) seeks an experienced Electrical / Optical SerDes DSP & Algorithm Engineer to join a hands-on, highly technical team. You will develop DSP algorithms and architectures for next-generation SerDes, model systems in MATLAB/Python/C++, and work across digital, analog, RTL and verification teams.

You will optimize for power, performance and area, support silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation, and provide technical leadership on

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of DSP, communication theory and high-speed systems.
• Experience in wireline and/or optical communications.
• Experience developing or architecting DSP algorithms for high-speed SerDes.
• Strong system modeling with MATLAB, Python and/or C++.
• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced DSP algorithms and architectures for high-speed SerDes systems.
• Model system and algorithms using MATLAB, Python and/or C++ to evaluate performance and architectural trade-offs.
• Develop and optimize algorithms for equalization, timing recovery/CDR, compensation, cancellation, sequence detection, and channel coding/FEC.
• Model analog front-end impairments and develop DSP-based compensation techniques.
• Optimize algorithms and architectures for power, performance and area (PPA).
• Support the transition from floating-point concepts to implementation-oriented models.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across international locations and lifecycle stages.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction where appropriate.
