Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Senior Staff Signal Processing Engineer to lead DSP architecture for next-generation lidar, from simulation to custom silicon. You will collaborate with photonics, R&D, and electrical teams to map physics into DSP requirements and drive end-to-end algorithm development.

You will build scalable simulation environments, optimize for embedded hardware, and oversee verification from model to silicon bring-up, contributing to safety and performance in autonomous mobility.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: BSc, MSc or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field, paired with 10+ years of relevant industry experience in advanced DSP design.
• Advanced DSP foundation: spectral estimation, filtering, phase recovery, modulation/demodulation, detection theory and noise mitigation.
• Cross-industry DSP experience in radar, optical/RF telecom, or computational physics.
• Embedded hardware targeting: mapping high-throughput algorithms to FPGAs/SoC/SIMD/ASIC with tight latency constraints.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or MATLAB for modeling, simulation, and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Architect Core DSP pipelines: lead end-to-end signal processing for next-gen coherent lidar.
• Optimize for hardware execution: design compute-optimized architectures for FPGA/ASIC.
• Bridge physics and hardware: translate optical properties into digital processing requirements.
• Build simulation & tooling: develop scalable simulators to validate algorithms before silicon.
• Verify and bring-up DSP IP across simulation, hardware emulation, and initial silicon.
