Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned professional to oversee and train Program Inspectors and contractors within Duke Energy DSM programs. You will lead QA/QC efforts, develop performance metrics, and drive compliance across residential and non-residential energy-efficiency projects.

You will manage field activities, coordinate vendor relationships, and mentor team members while ensuring safety protocols and PSC mandates are met. This role requires travel and deep industry knowledge.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years related work experience.
  • Certified Energy Auditor.
  • Home Energy Rater.
  • Dust Diagnostics and Combustion Safety.
  • 3+ years QA/QC experience in utility energy efficiency programs (desired).
  • Knowledge of Duke Energy's objectives, DSM programs, products and services.
  • Decision-making, good judgment, and priority setting.
  • Experience with electrical and HVAC operations, building principles, and building codes.
  • Travel 25-50%.
  • Ability to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support training and development of Program Inspectors.
  • Provide oversight of Program Inspectors and contractors/vendors.
  • Determine key performance metrics and coordinate tactical planning for DSM compliance.
  • Lead projects and initiatives and oversee critical vendor relationships.
  • Oversee, manage, and perform specialized inspections of completed DSM program contractor/vendor work.
  • Manage field activities and monitor quality, responsiveness, and DSM program compliance.
  • Act as liaison between Duke Energy, inspection authorities, builders, and contractors/vendors.
  • Implement and coordinate training plans for Program Inspectors and contractors/vendors.
  • Manage compliance inspections, invoicing, Fastrack, and contractor/vendor feedback surveys.
  • Develop business relationships and recruit, select, and train program contractors/vendors.
  • Execute contractor/vendor meetings and quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Develop training seminars related to DSM, Energy Efficiency, program standards, and participation requirements.
  • Manage contractor/vendor obligations and reporting; ensure safety protocols.
  • Collaborate on DSM program filings and evaluations to meet goals and PSC mandates.
  • Mentor team members and support management capability development.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and business unit rules.
  • Identify team performance improvements and develop improvement strategies.
  • Manage inventories, licenses, insurance, background checks, and certifications.
  • Develop communications for customers, employees, and contractor/vendor orgs.
  • Perform residential and non-residential Energy Checks as needed.

Job description

  • Support training and development of Program Inspectors

  • Oversee, manage, and perform specialized inspections of completed residential and non-residential DSM program contractor/vendor work
  • Manage field activities and continuously monitor quality, responsiveness, and DSM program compliance
  • Act as technical liaison between Duke Energy, inspection authorities, builders, and contractors/vendors
  • Implement and coordinate training plans for Program Inspectors and contractors/vendors
  • Manage compliance inspections, invoicing, Fastrack, and contractor/vendor feedback surveys
  • Develop business relationships and recruit, select, and train program contractors/vendors
  • Execute contractor/vendor meetings and quarterly performance evaluations
  • Develop training seminars related to Demand Side Management, Energy Efficiency, program standards, and participation requirements
  • Manage contractor/vendor contractual obligations and relationships, including performance, quality control, tracking, and reporting

Requirements
  • High School/GED
  • Minimum 5 years related work experience
  • Certified Energy Auditor
  • Home Energy Rater
  • Dust Diagnostics and Combustion Safety
  • Minimum 3 years experience managing QA/QC processes supporting Utility Energy Efficiency programs (desired)
  • Knowledge of Duke Energy's business objectives, strategies, DSM programs, products and services
  • Experience in making decisions, exercising good judgment, and setting priorities
  • Experience with electrical and HVAC mechanical operations, building and construction principles, and building code
  • Ability to climb, bend, lift a minimum of 25 lbs., and work in confined spaces
  • Must be approved to wear a respirator for extended periods in attic spaces, elevated-temperature conditions, or crawl spaces, exposed to particulates
  • Comprehensive financial and business acumen
  • Business operation experience
  • Analytical, problem identification, diagnostic, and resolution skills
  • General knowledge/understanding of utility regulatory environment

  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Ability to live within a reasonable daily commute to the assigned work location
  • Travel requirement of 25–50%
