Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of transmissions, axles, driveline systems, and powertrain components from concept to production.

You will collaborate with controls, software, manufacturing, and suppliers, apply DFMEA/PFMEA, and drive robust, high-load mechanical systems for heavy equipment used in global markets.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Agricultural, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years designing mechanical systems with heavy loads.
• Experience with powertrain, drivetrain, transmission, gearbox, or propulsion systems.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience collaborating across manufacturing, suppliers, and global teams.

Mansioni

• Design, develop, validate, and release transmissions, axles, driveline systems, and powertrain components.
• Lead product development lifecycle from concept to production.
• Collaborate with controls, software, systems, and manufacturing teams.
• Develop validation plans and analyze test data.
