Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of transmissions, axles, driveline systems, and powertrain components for large-scale equipment.

You will own critical drivetrain subsystems, collaborate with global teams, and drive concept-to-production execution in demanding environments. Ideally you have 5+ years in mechanical design for powertrain systems and strong analytical and leadership skills to guide cross-functional efforts from

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems.
• Experience with systems under significant mechanical loads.
• Ability to communicate across cross-functional teams.
• Experience with powertrain, drivetrain, or propulsion systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and release powertrain components.
• Lead engineering decisions through the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with controls, software, and manufacturing teams.
• Develop validation plans and analyze test data.
• Perform DFMEA/PFMEA and root cause analysis.
