Job summary

Corewell Health in Grand Rapids is seeking an Environmental Services team member for the evening shift. The role involves cleaning, disinfecting, waste and linen removal, plus maintenance of floors and upholstery. You will train staff on cleaning procedures and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

You will work Monday to Friday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., 40 hours a week, at SITE - 350 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids. A driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 6 months of relevant experience in public service, hospital, or janitorial settings.
  • Must be 20 years of age and have a clean driving record.
  • MI Driver's License required on hire.

  • Perform interim and restorative maintenance on floors, carpets, and upholstery.

Job Summary

You can make a difference in patients' lives as a Senior Environmental Services team member with Corewell Health. In this role, your primary focus is maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients and staff. You'll be responsible for removing medical waste, trash, and linen, and performing maintenance on hard floors, carpets, and upholstery. You'll also have the opportunity to train new and existing staff on our department's cleaning procedures and standards. Communication and collaboration with other team members are essential to ensure continuity of service and help foster a positive work environment.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to established procedures. Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
  • Performs interim and restorative maintenance to hard floor, carpets and upholstery according to procedures.
  • Assembles, maintains and stores equipment/supplies that are necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
  • Provides training and ongoing instruction to new and existing Environmental Services staff on the department cleaning procedures and expectations, and all departmental quality, safety, and customer service standards and expectations.
  • Assigns, coordinates, inspects employee work assignments, and completes quality assurance inspections.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team and across departments in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
  • May be expected to work at various department sites for coverage and due to business need.
  • Picks up and delivers various materials, supplies and other items and ensures vehicle is ready for the following route by filling up the gas tank and returning keys and equipment to designated area. Keep vehicles clean, organized and prepared for the next drive to utilize. Advise supervisor of any repairs needed. Ensures timely, safe and accurate deliver and must be able to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions and abides by all traffic laws while representing SH in a professional manner.
Qualifications
Required
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 6 months of relevant experience public service and or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience
  • Must be 20 years of age
  • Must have excellent driving record
  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire
Preferred
  • CRT-Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) - AHE Association for the Healthcare Environment.
  • 6 months of relevant experience Leadership
