Corewell Health in Grand Rapids is seeking a Senior Environmental Service Technician to clean and disinfect patient rooms and clinical spaces, remove waste and linens, and maintain floors and upholstery. As a senior team member you will train colleagues on departmental procedures and expectations, helping ensure high-quality care and a positive work environment.

This full-time role with an evening schedule (5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.), 40 hours weekly, may require coverage at different sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of relevant experience in public service or customer service in a healthcare/hospital environment.
• 1 year leadership experience preferred.
• CRT-Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and stock patient rooms, offices, and ancillary areas according to established procedures.
• Remove linens and waste streams.
• Perform interim and restorative maintenance on hard floors, carpets, and upholstery.
• Provide training to new and existing Environmental Services staff on cleaning procedures and standards.
• Assign, coordinate, inspect, and complete quality assurance inspections of staff work.
• Communicate and collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure continuity of services.
• Act as team lead during uplines absence and report issues.
• Work at various department sites for coverage as needed.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to established procedures. Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
• Performs interim and restorative maintenance to hard floor, carpets and upholstery according to procedures.
• Assembles, maintains and stores equipment/supplies that are necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
• Provides training and ongoing instruction to new and existing Environmental Services staff on the department cleaning procedures and expectations, and all departmental quality, safety, and customer service standards and expectations.
• Assigns, coordinates, inspects employee work assignments, and completes quality assurance inspections.
• Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team and across departments in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
• Acts as team lead during uplines absence and reports work-related issues to upline.
• May be expected to work at various department sites for coverage and due to business need.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of relevant experience public service and or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience Required
• 6 months of relevant experience Leadership Preferred
• CRT-Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) - AHE Association for the Healthcare Environment 1 Year preferred
