What You'll Do

• Perform standard penetrometer testing operations, including boring and Geoprobes.
• Operate Geoprobe units for soil and Cone Penetrometer (CPT) data collection.
• Complete drilling operations by operating rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills; monitor progress; adjust bit weight and rotary speed; change bits; remove debris; set explosives; operate gasoline, diesel, electric, or steam draw works.
• Locate borings in the field.
• Record all required drilling data accurately.
• Report project-specific issues directly to the project manager or supervisor.
• Perform maintenance on drill rigs and support trucks, reporting issues to the Drilling Supervisor.
• Troubleshoot mechanical problems, including electrical or hydraulic issues.
• Safely load drill rigs and support vehicles daily with necessary supplies.
• Plan daily schedules to meet productivity goals set by the Drilling Supervisor or Office Manager.
• Complete timesheets and field paperwork promptly and accurately.
• Maintain and clean assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain professional behavior and uphold quality standards.
• Train and mentor Drilling Helpers and Drillers.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally sound work environment by following organizational standards and legal regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of PPE.
• Willing to work out of town and on non-standard schedules as required.

What We're Looking For

• High School diploma or GED.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to carry 40–70 lbs multiple times daily and occasionally lift up to 85 lbs to waist height.
