Job Description

General Responsibilities:
As a Driller III with Terracon, you will perform subsurface exploration and soil sampling duties using auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring techniques. You will lead two-person crews on projects requiring borings up to 150 feet deep. Responsibilities include setting piezometers and observation wells, providing input to improve drilling efficiency, and assisting in drilling or maintenance tasks.

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Drive company vehicles and operate auger and mud rotary drill rigs. Complete DOT paperwork as required.
• Perform boring layout and elevations, and coordinate with utility companies to verify utility locations.
• Carry out routine drilling tasks as assigned, including auger drilling, mud rotary, diamond coring, and air rotary techniques.
• Load drilling tools and supplies based on project requirements.
• Complete borings, piezometers, or observation wells up to approximately 150 feet deep using appropriate methods.
• Prepare and review boring logs and site documentation, including soil and rock classifications.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed, especially OSHA Level D, C, B projects, and oversee safety gear usage.
• Perform maintenance tasks and supervise shop tasks, particularly in the absence of the department or office manager.
