Job summary

Capstone Copper seeks a Sr. Drill & Blast Engineer for Pinto Valley Mine in the Miami, AZ area. This 100% onsite, full-time professional position focuses on safe, efficient drilling and blasting operations, design oversight, and contractor coordination.

The role requires 5–10 years of mining experience, relevant degrees, and strong proficiency with blasting software and fleet systems. A dynamic, detail-oriented leader with strong communication is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of mining experience.
• Bachelors in Mine Engineering is required.
• Masters in Mine Engineering is preferred.
• Experience with drill-blast-load-haul open pit mining sequence is preferred.
• Experience with MineStar or similar fleet management system.

Responsibilities

• Manage drilling platforms and blasting design to meet safety and operation standards.
• Control blasting protocols, evacuation plans, schedules, and meetings.
• Oversee contractors and vendors in D&B matters.
• Develop drilling patterns per technical definitions (diameter, depth, etc.).
• Ensure optimal fragmentation for processing streams.
• Manage drilling consumables usage and budgets.
• Supervise blasting and production drilling teams.
• Ensure QA/QC of drilling and blasting.
• Associate with geotechnical engineer to model blasting units.
